UGC NET JUNE 2026

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the notification for the UGC NET June 2026 session. This national-level entrance exam determines the eligibility of Indian nationals for 'Junior Research Fellowship' (JRF), 'Assistant Professor', and 'Admission to PhD' in Indian universities and colleges.

Eligible candidates can apply online through the official NTA website. Below are the complete details regarding eligibility, important dates, and the application process.


1. Important Dates (June 2026 Cycle)

Don’t miss the deadline! Mark these key dates in your calendar:

  • Online Application Starts: April 29, 2026

  • Last Date to Apply: May 20, 2026 (up to 11:50 PM)

  • Last Date for Fee Payment: May 20, 2026

  • Correction Window: May 22 – May 24, 2026

  • Exam City Announcement: By June 10, 2026

  • Admit Card Release: By June 15, 2026

  • UGC NET Exam Dates: June 22 to June 30, 2026


2. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification:

  • Master’s Degree: Candidates must have a Master's Degree or equivalent from a UGC-recognized university.

  • Minimum Marks: At least 55% marks for General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates. 50% marks for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), SC, ST, PwD, and Third Gender candidates.

  • Appearing Candidates: Those in the final year of their Master's degree or awaiting results are also eligible to apply provisionally.

Age Limit (As of June 1, 2026):

  • JRF: Maximum 30 years. (5-year relaxation for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD/Women candidates).

  • Assistant Professor: No Upper Age Limit.


3. Application Fee

The fee must be paid online via Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI.

4. Exam Pattern & Syllabus

The exam will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. It consists of two papers, both containing objective-type, multiple-choice questions (MCQs).

  • Paper 1 (General): 50 Questions (100 Marks) – Tests teaching and research aptitude.

  • Paper 2 (Subject-Specific): 100 Questions (200 Marks) – Based on the subject selected by the candidate.

  • Total Duration: 3 Hours (180 minutes) without any break.

  • Marking Scheme: +2 for each correct answer. No negative marking.
