The Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBPF), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has released an official recruitment notification for the post of Head Constable (Motor Mechanic) 2026. Pay Scale: Level-4 in the Pay Matrix ($Rs.\ 25,500 - 81,100$) under the 7th Central Pay Commission.

Additional Benefits: Dearness Allowance (DA), Ration Money Allowance, Special Compensatory Allowance (for border postings), Free Medical Facilities, HRA or Accommodation, Transport Allowance, and Leave Travel Concession (LTC).

Pension Scheme: New entrants can opt for either the New Defined Contribution Pension Scheme (NPS) or the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS).
Selection Process
The ITBP Head Constable (Motor Mechanic) recruitment process comprises four comprehensive stages:

Phase – I: Physical Tests
-
Physical Efficiency Test (PET): 1.6 km race in 7 minutes 30 seconds; 11-foot long jump (3 attempts); 3.5-foot high jump (3 attempts). (Qualifying nature; Ex-Servicemen exempted).

Physical Standard Test (PST): Height (170 cm standard; relaxations apply for Marathas, Gorkhas, Dogras, Garhwalis, Kumaonis, and NE states) and Chest measurements (80 cm unexpanded, 85 cm expanded).

Phase – II: Documentation & Written Examination

Document Verification: Verification of original educational certificates, caste certificates, and experience credentials.

Written Exam (100 Marks, 2 Hours): Objective multiple-choice test consisting of General Knowledge (10 marks), Mathematics (10 marks), English/Hindi (20 marks), and Trade-Related Theory (60 marks).

Phase – III: Practical (Skill) Test (50 Marks)

Covers vehicle inspection (10 marks), fault identification (10 marks), defect rectification (25 marks), and tool handling (5 marks). Minimum qualifying standard is 50%.
